The plain carpet collection “MANYO”, which we developed with “Yamagata Dantsu”, a carpet brand based in Yamagata prefecture.
“MANYO” is inspired by The Manyoshu, a collection of poets which is full of expression that are reminiscent of beautiful colors. Its concept is to bring Japanese unique color aesthetics inherited from the ancient times to modern interior for daily life. The colors of the collection are 12 colors chosen from various poets giving lively descriptions of colorful nature and daily lives all around Japan.
“Yarn Mercerization”, a new technique which supports Yamagata Dantsu’s high-skilled manufacturing, came into practical use with this new collection. The “plain” carpets made with high-level skills have subtle lusters and wrap up the aesthetic colors that Japanese has inherited from the old days. They show various colors and expressions at different angles and with lights and shadows.
The collection, whose development started from Yamagata Dantsu’s wish of “superb plain carpet is our goal”, is filled with imagination that lets you visualize ancient scenes, and at the same time, it can afford to nestle into a modern comfortable lifestyle. The new collection is a suitable concept for Yamagata Dantsu, which respects the old traditions with a forward-looking attitude.
