クリエイターアイテムと、多彩なアートが並ぶSpiral Xmas Marketのためのシンボルツリーをデザインした。カリモクとの協同でAA STOOL by Karimokuを組み上げた高さ7ｍにおよぶツリーが会場にそびえる。
「AA STOOL」 は石巻工房のためにデザインした26x86x3050mmの規格寸法材を無駄なく使用したシンプルなスツールで、横から見ると「A」にも見え、重ね合わせても、ばらして使うこともできる。 開発されて10 年、近年は「メイド・イン・ローカル」プロジェクトを通じて地場特有の材料を活用した製品が各地の協業先で製作されるようになった。その一貫として、カリモクの技術と特徴を活かした”AA STOOL by Karimoku”が生まれた。
家具材としては適格では無い、国産の未利用材、工場で使われていたパレットを活用したアップサイクルモデルや、木目を残す目はじき塗装をかけたスペシャルカラーモデルで作った、メッセージ性のあるツリーを空間の中央に配置した。
来場者が会場を散策できるようにツリーの周囲に配置されたAA STOOL by Karimokuが、らせん状のスロープからは多様な表情を見せる。

We designed a symbolic tree for the Spiral Xmas Market, where creators' works are displayed in a wide variety of arts. The 7m-high tree AA STOOLs by Karimoku in collaboration with Karimoku towers over the venue.
"AA STOOL" is a simple stool made of efficient 26x86x3050mm wood sections designed for Ishinomaki Laboratory, with an ‘A’ side section, and they can be stacked or separated to allow various types of uses. Ten years after its development, the "Made in Local" project has recently led to the production of products that utilize locally unique materials at cooperative sites around the world. "AA STOOL by Karimoku" was born as part of this project, making full use of Karimoku's technology and characteristics.
We located the tree conveying a conceptual message in the center of the space. The tree is made from unused domestic timber unsuitable for furniture, an upcycled model that utilizes factory pallets, and specially colored ones to express the grain of the wood.
The AA STOOLs by Karimoku are placed around the tree to let visitors walk around the venue and see a variety of expressions from the spiral slope.
Selling these exhibition stools after the exhibition period is over contributes to our ethos of minimizing waste for sustainability.
