インテリア ライフスタイル リビング2023のコラボレーション企画「アップサイクルエアプレーン JAL｜カリモク」に出展したサイドテーブル。
飛行機の機体にはメンテナンスのために、さまざまな形状の点検ハッチが設けられている。この金属製のハッチに木製の脚を取り付けることで、高さの異なる2種類のサイドテーブルを制作した。
飛行機の機体は空気抵抗を減らすため、全体が湾曲しているが、ハッチだけを見ると、その流線形の印象が薄れてしまう。飛行機らしい丸みのある印象を保つため、木のボリュームによる脚はボーイング777-300er型機のボディや尾翼を模した形状に加工した。

The side tables were designed and made for the collaborative project ‘Upcycling Airplanes JAL | Karimoku’ as part of the Interior Lifestyle Living Exhibition 2023.
For maintenance purposes, inspection hatches of unique shapes and sizes can be found on the exterior of the plane’s body. By attaching wooden legs to these metal hatches, side tables of 2 different variations are made.
Aircraft fuselages are curved throughout to reduce air resistance, but looking at the inspection hatches alone, the streamlined impression is lost. In order to maintain the rounded impression typical of airplanes, the legs by means of wooden volumes have been processed into shapes that imitate the body and tail of a Boeing 777-300er aircraft.
