新宿伊勢丹店本館 4 階 センターパーク = ザ・ステージ#4 にて行われた、PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE 「ANIMA OF ONOMATOPOEIA」の展示会場構成。日本語の豊かなオノマトペからイメージした「GORO-GORO」 「GUCHA-GUCHA」「GIZA-GIZA」など、ダイナミックな柄で表現したシリーズが発表された。

「GIZA-GIZA」柄をかたどったインパクトのあるハンガーパネルや、「GORO-GORO」と「GUCHA-GUCHA」柄の大胆 なグラフィックで空間を構成した。また、様々なオノマトペを映し出すストップモーション映像を大型モニターで見せ るなど、PLEATS PLEASE がつくり出したオノマトペのイメージを体感できるような空間を目指した。

同フロアにある常設店舗の脇に「アートフレーム」と呼ばれるディスプレイスペースを設置した。アートフレームでは、 ランダムにオノマトペが映し出さるiPad9 台をスチールパイプの構造体に組み込み、それぞれがひとつの標本に見 えるようなディスプレイとした。

We dressed the exhibition site, "Center Park / The Stage #4", located on the fourth floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Main Store for the PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE "ANIMA OF ONOMATOPOEIA" exhibition. The collection using dynamic patterns and shapes is inspired by wonderfully rich onomatopoeias of Japanese, such as "GORO-GORO", "GUCHA-GUCHA", "GIZA-GIZA".

Bold graphics representing the rolling (GORO-GORO) and pulpy (GUCHA-GUCHA) motifs, as well as a high-impact hanger panel in a jagged (GIZA-GIZA) pattern help shape up the space. Furthermore, we sought to create an environment in which the onomatopoeic representations created by PLEATS PLEASE could be experienced by using media, such as a large monitor to display stop-motion images showing various onomatopoeia, etc.

We also set up a display space called "Art Frame" beside the permanent store on the same floor. Here, nine iPads randomly displaying onomatopoeia were incorporated into a steel pipe structure and made to look as a single specimen.
