青山店で実施している、me ISSEY MIYAKE 「ZIG ZAG PLEATS」のインスタレーションの会場構成。タテ方向に細かいプリーツ加工を施し、ヨコ方向に大きなジグザグのハンドプリーツ加工を施したトップシリーズ「ZIG ZAG PLEATS」の発表に合わせて、ギャラリースペースでのインスタレーションとウィンドウディスプレイの計画が求められた。ジグザグの加工によって、より伸縮性に富んだ生地の素材感を活かし、２階では洋服が伸縮する様子を機械仕掛けでみせるインスタレーションを考えた。ステージにおかれた３枚の洋服は、ボタンを押すとそれぞれ袖、裾、ウエスト部分が伸び縮みをする。ステージの横にはジグザグの立面をもつ土台を足として、同シリーズのバッグを顔に見立てて、洋服を立体的に見せることのできるマネキンを製作した。踊るように動く洋服を隣で眺めるマネキン、という構図がユーモラスな風景をうみだしている。路面のウィンドウにもこのマネキンを設置し、待ちゆく人々のアイキャッチになっている。今回の新たなシリーズの特徴である、ジグザグのハンドプリーツ加工による特性を、動きとともに見せる新たなディスプレイを考えた。

The installation design for me ISSEY MIYAKE “ZIG ZAG PLEATS” in the Aoyama store.We were asked to plan an installation and window display in the gallery space for the launch of the “ZIG ZAG PLEATS collection”, the tops series with fine pleats finished vertically and large pleats hand-finished horizontally in zigzag.To show off how the fabric is more elastic due to the zigzag weave, we designed a mechanical installation on the second floor showing how it stretches and contracts. The three garments on stage expand and contract their sleeves, hems, and waists when buttons are pressed. Next to the stage we installed a mannequin with zigzag base for feet and a bag of similar material for face, showing the clothes in three dimensions. The mannequins seem to be looking at the stretching clothes dancing, a humorous scene. The same mannequin installed in the window creates an eye-catching display. We aimed to create a display to show the characteristics of the new series, the zigzag pleats finished by hand, through movement.
