国内は2か所、海外はニューヨーク、タイ、台湾の3カ国で実施する、me ISSEY MIYAKE 「WATER FLOWER」のインタレーション構成。me ISSEY MIYAKEの代表的素材とも言える「ストレッチプリーツ」に、インクを滲ませながら描いた花や植物の柄をプリントした新シリーズ「WATER FLOWER」の発表に合わせて、青山店のギャラリースペースではインスタレーションとウィンドウディスプレイの計画が求められた。縦と横に細かなプリーツをかけることで生まれた、 全方向に伸縮する独自のテクスチャーをもつストレッチプリーツの軽やかな印象と、春らしい花や植物の新柄のイメージを掛け合わせ、ハンガーに掛けられた衣服自体が風になびいて植物のように揺れる仕掛けを考えた。 ギャラリーでは、底を丸くした鉢の中におもりを入れ、茎の部分に観客が触れることで起き上がりこぼしのようにゆらゆらと洋服が揺れるインスタレーションを考えた。壁面や、街路に面する窓に貼られた巨大な植物は、自分が小人になったような感覚をもたらす。ショーウィンドウでは、待ちゆく人々のアイキャッチになるよう自動的に揺れる機械仕掛けとした。軽やかで繊細な加工技術をインタラクティブな仕掛けで表現しつつ、季節感のあるディスプレイを目指した。

The installation design for me ISSEY MIYAKE “WATER FLOWER” to be held in 2 locations in Japan and in three locations overseas, New York, Thailand and Taiwan.For the launching of the new collection “WATER FLOWER” with botanical patterns painted with blotting ink that are printed on ISSEY MIYAKE's iconic material “Stretch Pleats,” an installation and window display plan was needed for the gallery space in the Aoyama store.We combined the airy impression given by Stretch Pleats, whose omnidirectional stretching textile is enabled by fine pleats horizontally and vertically, with a new pattern of vernal images. The combination is reflected in the objects hanging the new collections swinging and fluttering like a plant in the window. The inspired gallery installation features objects implanted in counterweighted pots, so they sway like a roly-poly toy when touched. The giant plants on walls and windows facing the street give a unique feeling as if visitors were small people. Mechanical devices in the show window catch the eye with objects that sway automatically.We aimed to create a display with a seasonal feel, while expressing light and delicate processing techniques through interactive mechanisms.
